Richard Boutcher from Essex, UK

I have owned a hammerless sidelock 12g Perrins shotgun for around five years, and after 8 months at the gunsmith have got it back.

This is a beautiful gun, with a well-figured, semi-pistol grip stock, side-by-side damascus barrels, hand engraved with enchanting game scenes and operated by a top lever cocking action.

I investigated previously and, based on the address stamped on the rib, concluded that it had been made between 1874 and 1876.  I can find no evidence of a serial number anywhere on the gun, supported by the local constabulary who also tried to find one during my last renewal inspection.

As far as I can read it (you’ll see from the pictures that it’s not very clear), the text on the rib says: Perrins & Sons Makers 59 Broad St Worcester Patent 3892
