Thomas PerrinsWhile this website is primarily concerned with the Perrins family gun makers at Worcester we have come across guns by Thomas Perrins. Thomas was born in 1791 and was the elder brother of John Perrins, the founder of the Worcester business. Thomas was in business at 80 Peascod Street, Windsor from 1843 to 1851 when the business became Perrins & Son Windsor and continued in business until 1863. There is evidence that they made guns and supplied ammunition to the Royal Family. There was a 19 bore rifle by Perrins & Son Windsor which was put up for auction recently in Auckland, New Zealand. It has an inscription on the rib that it was made for the Prince Consort in 1860. We have also been contacted by Malcolm Colt from South Africa who had a
percussion, double barreled gun by T. Perrins of Windsor. The serial
number was 376 and was very handy light double 12
We are researching further the relationship of the Perrins family with the Royal Family which we will add to the web site as soon as it becomes confirmed. |
