Ian Lockie from Worcestershire, UK

This .410 has been converted from a rook rifle, is owned by John Clements and shown here held by Ian Lockie, our web master.

The name on the top of the barrel is ‘Perrins & Son makers Worcester’ followed by the serial number 5594.  The stock has the ‘top and heal’ metal plates and is an attractive piece of wood for a rifle.  It has a semi pistol grip capped with a polished piece of horn matching the piece set into the for-end. Opening is by a side leaver on the right and a single bite lock.  The barrel is octagonal terminating in three grooves before becoming tapered round.

You can still see the dovetail groove for the original backsight. The gun has a rudimentary ejector in the form of a small leafspring with a tab, on the left hand side. This tab retains the extractor until the barrel is almost fully open before releasing it.  The gun is of blacked finish with no engraving other than a wave pattern on the top of the flat part of the barrel.  The barrel appears to be heavily choked, points and handles well and kills at a good range.
